Art Movement

Impressionism

"Impressionist painting characteristics include relatively small, thin, yet visible brush strokes, open composition, emphasis on accurate depiction of light in its changing qualities (often accentuating the effects of the passage of time), ordinary subject matter, inclusion of movement as a crucial element of human perception and experience, and unusual visual angles. "  - wiki.

It took me ages to find myself an art movement that really reflects me. I was going for pop art at first, because i liked the whole advertising and quirky art position thingy going on in pop art, but i figured I wanted something more than just that.

At the end of it, i was stuck between cubism and impressionism. the first thing that really attract my attention to it was the fact that it was art in painting format. I've always liked playing with colors and especially after i picked up watercolor, I prefer most of my art work in paintings.

Impressionism is mainly about what a person sees and how he sees it in his eyes and put it down into paper and colors. I like how I could do something that leads my emotions onto it rather something that is forced out of me.

This were the three paintings I came up with because
I was not really satisfied in the beginning until my last painting.

I draw this picture out of inspiration through the internet when I was going through a few impressionism paintings in the net. And since it was a task based on our personal self, i again decided to do another girl's  face that represent my gender. :) and roses tells the little feminine side of me and also it is one of my most favorite flower to be given to me (HEHE)

till then, xx

Self - Portrait

As clueless as I was for our first day of class in Principle of Design ( POD), I was clearly hoping I was ready for class because I did not know what to fully expect.

After Ms Maslisa came in and gave her introduction, we were immediately given a task to work on. We were given a period of time to go out of class and look for whatever we could and come up with an art piece that describes US. We were allowed to use any sort of elements we could find for our task ( ex : leaves, colors, brunches, paper .. etc)

As soon as we were given the task, i felt a little worried about it. I find it hard describing and expressing how i feel most of the time, so it was a little struggle for me. But after relaxing and getting inspired by several art work online, I let myself loose a little and went with the flow of my pencil.

I did not add in any sort of colors or other elements in my work though, because I wasn't aware at first that we were allowed too and everyone else were doing their work mostly in black and white. ( this happens especially during the first day of class, .... just following what others are doing, just to be on the "safe side" haha)

and.... my end product is.....

This shows my face in the middle ( a fail one, haha) , butterfly to represent freedom and the love of colors, rocket with weird alien like cartoon represents randomness, and clouds below represents my over-obsession of how beautiful clouds are all the time, and the tree being upside- down tells that I dont do things as it is all the time because I find it hard sometimes to follow rules/ instructions all the time, i mean, who likes being controlled. and also i tend to see things a little different at times and not everything must be in its position just because it is first shown that way. :)

 stay tune, xx
